[ARCHIVED] Tornado Touch Down in Ferris

We have confirmed that about 5:30 p.m. today (Wednesday, September 8) a tornado did touch down in the Ferris area. Based on a preliminary assessment, damage appears to be limited to outbuildings, with the exception of one enclosed patio-type room. At this time, only one injury has been reported -- a female injured by flying debris after taking shelter beneath a bridge along I-45. She was treated and released. Officials will continue to work with area residents to assess damage. Citizens are advised to monitor this evening's weather bulletins closely as severe storm activity continues in the region.
