[ARCHIVED] No Jobs Lost

NO JOBS LOST

A note from the County Judge:

It’s important to clear up misinformation that eight (8) County Employees lost their jobs due to the adoption of the 2013-2014 Budget. There has been no reduction in force.

According to the Texas Commission on Jail Standards, our current staffing level of 119 detention officers
adequately accommodates our jail inmate population and meets Jail Standards.

The Detention (Jail) “positions” that were eliminated from the Budget were excess positions that had never been staffed in the previous four years. These unstaffed positions created a pool of funds that were routinely transferred and utilized for other law enforcement purchases.

The current Budget, which was unanimously approved by the Commissioners Court, drew those funds back into the General Fund for reallocation.

This year’s Budget will provide some much needed staffing relief and equipment to various departments which will enhance public services.
