[ARCHIVED] Statement from County Judge Carol Bush

I want you to know that Ellis County Government is working diligently with state and local partners to mitigate weather related damage and flooding issues. I am currently out of the area due to a family emergency. Pct. 1 Commissioner Dennis Robinson, is serving as County Judge Pro Tem in my stead, but be assured that as Director of Emergency Management, I am in constant communication with Emergency Management Coordinator, Stephanie Parker.
The Emergency Management Coordinator is utilizing all available resources in response to potential flooding. Sandbags have been brought in and are being distributed to neighborhoods with known flooding issues. At the present time, the areas of greatest concern are Cottonwood Creek, anyone along the Trinity River, Bardwell Lake area, and repetitive flooding areas.
The State is sending personnel to assist in a supporting role as needed and to provide additional resources and equipment.
All of the area first responders are working together to keep our residents safe.
A news conference has been scheduled for this afternoon at 4:30 pm.
