Ellis County Properties Damaged by Weather During the 2015 Holiday Season

Ellis County Residents – The Ellis Appraisal District is aware of many areas of Ellis County that were hit by the tornados and high winds during the 2015 Holiday Season. We want you to know we are so sorry you have experienced this loss and we want to do everything we can to help you. We have an opportunity to adjust your property values for 2016 to reflect the damage done and your property’s condition as of January 1, 2016. January 1 is the appraisal date established in law for most properties. We think it is important to reach out directly to those of you with a loss and give you a way to let us know if your property suffered damage.

If possible, please send an email to ecad@elliscad.com with the following information:

3. Email
4. Cell Phone Number
5. Date Your Property Was Damaged
6. If available, Description of Damage
7. If available, Estimated Cost of Repairs

Also, if you have had to relocate during this time and will not be able to receive mail at your damaged property, we encourage you to complete a Change of Address Form so that we can make sure to deliver your 2016 Notice of Appraised Value. Please either come into our office at 400 Ferris Avenue, Waxahachie, TX or visit the Forms Tab on our website at www.elliscad.com to find the Authorization for Change of Address Form.

We also want you to know that if the damaged property is your home and you had an existing Homestead Exemption, it will remain in place for 2016 as long as you do not claim a different property as your Homestead for 2016.
