[ARCHIVED] Property Taxpayer Remedies

Property Taxpayer Remedies (1920 x 1080) (1)

Property Taxpayer Remedies

The Ellis Appraisal District oversees appraisals across Ellis County. These districts were created and are governed by the Texas Property Tax Code. The PropertyTax Code was created in 1979 by legislation known as the Peveto bill. The Peveto bill created one appraisal district within each county to appraise properties for all taxing entities at 100% market value.

If you believe your property is appraised above your opinion of its market value, the Ellis Appraisal District states on their website they are open to talk to you to ensure the accuracy of your market value.

Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar has released the following document to outline the remedies available to taxpayers and procedures to be followed in seeking remedial action.

  • What can be protested?

  • How to resolve concerns informally?

  • What is an ARB?

  • When are protests filed?
