PUBLIC NOTICE

PUBLIC NOTICE OF COMMISSIONERS’ COURT MEETING FOR CONSIDERATION OF A TAX ABATEMENT AGREEMENT FOR PROPERTY LOCATED IN ELLIS COUNTY, TEXAS

The Commissioner’s Court of Ellis County, Texas (the "County"), following creation of Midlothian Commercial-Industrial Tax Abatement Reinvestment Zone Number 17, in the City
of Midlothian, Ellis County, Texas, will consider entering into a tax abatement agreement, as follows:

  1. The name of the property owner and applicant for the tax abatement agreement is Chaparral Steel Midlothian, LP.
  2. The name of the reinvestment zone shall be Midlothian Commercial-Industrial Tax Abatement Reinvestment Zone Number 17 and the location is at Chaparral Steel Midlothian L.P.’s existing facility (and surrounding areas) at 300 Ward Road, Midlothian, TX 76065, containing approximately 575.939 acres including Ellis Appraisal District Property IDs 181089 and 238841, and at 3351 S. Wyatt Road, Midlothian, TX 76065, containing approximately 26 acres including Ellis Appraisal District Property ID 197822.
  3. The improvements to be included in the tax abatement agreement generally consist of a steel mill and related improvements.
  4. The estimated costs of the improvements are at least $155 million. 

Pursuant to the Texas Open Meetings Act (the “Act”) as found in Chapter 551 of the TEXAS GOVERNMENT CODE, the County will consider approval of the tax abatement agreement at a
regularly scheduled meeting at 2:00 p.m. on May 3, 2022. This meeting will be held in the Historic Ellis County Courthouse, Commissioners’ Courtroom (2nd Floor) at 101 West Main Street, Waxahachie, Texas.

Pursuant to Chapter 312 of the TEXAS TAX CODE this notice shall be posted at least 30 days prior to the meeting and shall be posted in the same manner as required by the Act for a
Commissioners’ Court meeting.
