Historically Recognized Buildings in Ellis County

Before the turn of the 20th century and well into the 1920s, Waxahachie was one of the wealthiest and most influential areas of Texas thanks to the abundant cotton crop. Many of the large beautiful homes and beautiful public buildings utilized the gingerbread architectural style from which the Gingerbread Home Tour takes its name.

Get an up-close-and-personal look at such historically recognized buildings as the newly-restored Ellis County Courthouse, the Ellis County Museum, Sims Library, and the Ellis County Art Museum. For more information and tickets, visit the Gingerbread Trail Home Tour website.
