Volunteer Deputy Registrar’s (VDR) will need to make an appointment to drop off voter registration cards within the 5-business day deadline. If you need to register or request a ballot by mail, please print the application from our website, fill it out and mail it to the office. You can also call our office and request an application to be mailed to you.

One of the most important functions of the county government is to oversee the electoral process. The Elections Department has the responsibility of conducting all federal, state, county elections, and certain elections for other political subdivisions that contract with Ellis County. This office also handles voter registration. Ellis county has 50 political subdivisions which include Cities, Schools, Water Districts and Emergency Service Districts. The Office of Elections Administrator was created by the Ellis County Commissioners Court in 1994.
