Follow these tips to avoid heat sickness: Drink liquids (especially water) all day long. Avoid caffeinated drinks like soda, coffee, tea and energy drinks. Avoid alcohol. Eat small, balanced meals. Have a buddy. Avoid direct sun. Avoid hard work between 3pm and 6pm Take breaks in cool, shady places. Wear a hat. Wear light-colored clothes.

Recognize heat sickness: Heat sickness is caused by hot temperatures and sun. It may happen suddenly. You may pass out, have a seizure, or even die if not helped right away. Symptoms include dizziness, headache, nausea, extreme sweating, and rapid heartbeat.

Respond to heat sickness: Get out of the sun! Seek medical help. Drink cool water. Sit by a fan or air conditioner.
